Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - best facial cleanser I have found so far...
I have been using Philosophy Purity Made Simple for the past five years and love it. I have very sensitive skin and have found this cleanser to literally be the only one I have ever used that did not irritate the heck out of my skin. Plus, I would recommend it for ache prone skin types as well. It is mild yet effective.

With regards to other reviewers having reactions to the product, I can understand where they are coming from- I have had bad reactions to the hope in a jar cream since I am lactose intolerant. That being said, as mentioned in other reviews, check the ingredients. Overall I would highly recommend giving this product a chance.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Not for Everyone!
I really wanted to try Philosophy products after reading so many wonderful reviews. I have pretty sensitive skin with acne and large poors. I thought that the natural ingredients in Purity would help sooth my skin. I have been "Chemically Dependant" on Benzoyl Peroxide and Salycilic Acid in the past, and they have stopped working as I aged. Sadly, this product only made things worse!!! It seemed to clean nicely at first, but I noticed a few days later that it made my skin very tight and any fine lines I had became canyons! I looked like I had aged TEN YEARS!! At the same time I noticed that I had developed scaly raised bumps on my upper cheeks! I stopped using it immediately and started using a mild Tea Tree soap instead. This helped clear up the scaliness and has reduced the appeareance of my acne. Also, my fine lines are once again fine and I no longer look like an old crone! I like Philosophy's Hope in a Jar very much as well as theire Hope in a Tube. Purity made Simple is simply NOT for me!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Nice Product
This is a nice, clean product. My skin doesn't seem to like harsh soaps and there is a noticeable difference in the clarity of my skin when I use this fine product. By the way, I am a man. Don't tell anyone I care about my appearance!! lol ;-)

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - good product.....but maybe not for oily skin
This product smells good and will get your face really clean. Before I was using acne-free (generic pro-active) and I liked it. I switched b/c i wanted to try a one-step product. Acne-free dried out my skin, which is good for me because i have oily skin. Purity did not dry out my skin and my face started to break out. I switched back to acne-free and my face is starting to clear up again.
If you have really oily skin, i don't recommend Purity.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - I'd say it's mostly mediocre?
I agree with one of the reviewers that this overlauded product does tend to be a little harsh, and I do not have dry skin. I also agree with another reviewer that this product smells not-so-good if you want to put that in a nice way. It has a strong, almost bitter spice scent that doesn't seem like a good accompaniment for a face cleanser. While this certainly works well enough, it isn't the miracle product some are deeming it to be, but try it and see for yourself.
